As of october 2009, I am working as a HPC system administrator at CalcUA, the Core Facility at the Universiteit Antwerpen which is responsible for the HPC infrastructure.  Prior to this, I was a teaching assistent in the CANT research group.

My research interests include numerical analysis in general, with a preference going in the direction of round-off error analysis and validated algorithms as well as their implementation.  On September 23, 2009, I successfully defended my PhD Thesis, entitled "A Contribution to the Reliable Evaluation of Mathematical Functions", which includes an implementation of a series class for the evaluation of elementary and special functions with guaranteed error bounds, and a library for the evaluation of continued fractions.

On the semi-professional side, I'm interested in nearly everything that has to do with computers, and especially in free and open source software, with a preference for the Linux operating system.  That said, I am also a little bit of a Mac freak, and I try not to complain too much about that thing called Windows.  Lately, I am also into the Drupal experience, setting up websites now and then, such as this one...

Besides looking after my two hyperactive boys, my personal occupations include playing snooker, pool or darts, listening to music, playing board games with friends, do-it-yourself projects, and so on — too much to handle.

And last-but-not-least, I am a core/crew member of the Casa Blanca festival, a four-day free-entrance festival in the beginning of August at Hemiksem.  Check it out!
